Catch Up on Organizing

Catch Up on Organizing

Is it normal to feel this behind at the beginning of the week?

Last week was particularly busy, I co-hosted a surprise shower. With all of my energy focused on the planning of the shower everything else took a backseat.

Has that ever happened to you?

When you have a big project, a vacation, a party, or anything else out of the ordinary that consumes your time and energy- everything else like cleaning, organizing and staying on top of everyday stuff might not happen.

That’s where the catching up comes in.

Even if you’ve just had a few busy days back-to-back you might feel the need to catch up. I sure do!

Trouble is catching up feels, well, a little overwhelming. Everywhere I look I see things I have to do, for example:

Sort the teetering stack of incoming mail and pay the bills before they turn off the lights for non-payment
Wipe the hairspray covered bathroom vanity (by the way hairspray really sticks to porcelain)
Take the car through the car was before it drives itself there out of embarrassment
Hang up my pile of clothes from the great fashion show of 2012 when I tried to find the perfect shower outfit
Not to mention put away the entertaining dishes from the shower

And everything else I can’t remember right now.

No wonder I’m overwhelmed, right? Today I’m going to take a small step to catch up. I can’t get it ALL done today so I won’t try that’s a recipe for failure! But I can succeed at doing one small thing.

Right now I’m going to wipe the hairspray off the vanity top. It’s just one small step I know but it’s a start. Then once momentum builds I just might have the energy to sort the stack of incoming mail.

Now you’ll know what I’ll be catching up on. What are you going to catch up on today?
