When you have a goal it can be tempting to share that dream with everyone around you, right?
Let’s say you plan to write a children’s book or clean out your garage or start a side business. You have a plan and you can’t wait to get started. The excitement builds as you plan to take your first step…then you tell your _____ (fill in the blank with sister, mother-in-law, friend, spouse, daughter etc.)
What happens?
That person offers unsolicited advice which in reality is criticism. Publishing has changed no one will buy your book. Remember the last time you cleaned the garage, now it looks even worse. You don’t have any time to start a business.
And your energy is deflated, you second guess yourself, and you put your dream on the back burner.
What if the next time you have a goal you keep it under wraps. Instead of spending your time and energy talking about your idea you spend your time and energy taking action on that idea.
Then once it is underway (or complete) you can share the success. That’s how you take your idea to completion, so GO YOU!
