1. Conceal clutter.

So many times our bedroom doubles as a workspace or personal gym. Since you still need the yoga mat and stack of bills to be paid you can disguise them. A decorative box keeps important papers accessible and a steamer trunk at the foot of your bed can house the yoga mat. You can easily block off larger items with a lightweight folding screen.

2. Bring nature inside. Ever notice how spas always mix in decorative touches right from nature? Shells, rocks, branches, and flowers all make beautiful and calming accents.

3. Let the light in. Lighting is an often overlooked element. We have an overhead light and maybe a lamp on the bedside table and that’s as far as it goes. But lighting is so much more than that- – consider battery operated candles on the dresser for mood lighting and a great reading lamp is you tend to read in bed.

These few easy tweaks will turn your current bedroom into that sanctuary you crave, a true retreat from your hectic life.
